One of the key activities of NIS is supplying aircrafts with aviation fuel at Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade and Konstantin Veliki (Constantin the Great) airport in Niš. The company produces this fuel at its Oil Refinery in Pančevo.
NIS offers the following types of aviation fuel from its portfolio:
At Nikola Tesla and Konstantin Veliki airports, NIS operates modern facilities and storage and distribution of aviation fuel NIS-s Aviation Services meet strict standards for reliability and refuelling speed. The Company continuously works on upgrading facilities and equipment.
The quality control of JET A1 aviation fuel is conducted following a strict protocol, with all characteristics tested according to the Defence Standard 91-091, (latest version).
Its quality is controlled first during the production, where JET A1 receives the certificate confirming that it meets the required standards for direct aircraft refuelling or customer delivery.
When JET A-1 is dispatched and transported to storage facilities and aviation services, a secondary quality control—recertification—is performed after storage.
All JET A1 fuel parameter analyses, in accordance with Standard DEF 91-091 are conducted at the Scientific and Technological Centre laboratories at the locations of Pančevo, Surčin and Niš. These laboratories are fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and accredited testing methods.
Special attention is given to JET A1 transportation, and the Company uses dedicated tanker trucks that transport only this type of fuel.
JET A1 aviation fuel must, also, meet the requirements of the international standard EI/JIG 1530, which defines procedures for production, storage and distribution of jet fuel.
Once a year, certified external companies conduct audits at the Pančevo Refinery and Aviation Service Facilities (Aeroservisi) in Belgrade and Niš to verify compliance with internationally recognized Standard EI/JIG 1530.
As the result of the audit, a Certificate of compliance is being issued, confirming that all the requirements of the EI/JIG 1530 Standard have been met.
In the near future, full compliance with this standard will become a mandatory requirement for selecting aviation fuel suppliers by major airlines.
Aircrafts landing at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade and Konstantin Veliki Airport in Niš, whose airlines do not have contracts with NIS, can still receive aviation fuel if their pilots possess company payment cards.
